Lecturer, Quantity Surveying and Civil Engineering, TUS
Mr. Jim McNamara is a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering and Trades in the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest. As a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, Jim has nearly 40 years’ experience in a variety of different construction settings, both residential and commercial, including the Channel Tunnel and Euro Disney. He has lectured in Civil Engineering, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying courses, having been involved in the development of new courses in both Quantity Surveying and Construction Management.
As well as 3rd level education, Jim has been involved in the Construction Industry Federation providing CPD in a variety of subjects. He has also been an external examiner for Galway Mayo Institute of Technology and been an accrediting assessor for the SCSI for the GMIT and WIT Quantity Surveying courses. Jim’s career has brought him abroad, working in Nigeria and London, and most recently in Luoyang Institute of Technology, China where he lectured in the Construction Management module of the TUS’s Civil Engineering course.
