Breedon to acquire Booth Precast to strengthen construction materials business
BREEDON Group plc, a vertically integrated construction materials group with operations in Great Britain, Ireland, and the United States, has agreed to acquire Booth Precast Products Limited, a regional concrete and quarrying business based in Laois.
Booth has supplied the Irish construction market for over 25 years, establishing a strong reputation for sustainability and customer service.
The acquisition, expected to complete in the first half of 2026 pending Irish competition approval, aligns with Breedon’s strategy to secure scarce mineral reserves for the Dublin market and enhance vertical integration across its Irish operations.
Declan Carr, CEO of Breedon Ireland, said: “We look forward to completing this transaction and welcoming the Booth team into Breedon as we continue to invest in strengthening our operations and delivering a high-quality service for our customers. This acquisition will help deliver our strategy, providing us with a valuable source of aggregates to supply the Dublin market and further expands our concrete business.”
According to the Central Statistics Office, Ireland’s construction sector was valued at €14.3 billion in 2024, with residential and non-residential building activities accounting for 27 per cent of total output.
The largest subsector, electrical, plumbing, and other installation activities, contributed 28 per cent of gross value added. Over six per cent of Ireland’s workforce was employed in construction, slightly below the EU average of seven per cent.
The acquisition strengthens Breedon’s foothold in Ireland’s construction supply chain while ensuring continued access to key raw materials for Dublin’s expanding building market.
