Construction lawyers Kenny Caldwell, Jamie Ritchie and Stefan Berry have joined forces to establish Caldwell Ritchie Berry, a new specialist law practice headquartered in Belfast with a Dublin office. The firm will serve clients locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, leveraging the directors’ experience across Ireland, the UK, Europe, the USA, Scandinavia, Africa and the Middle East.

Caldwell, who founded Belfast-based Caldwell Solicitors in 2017, highlighted the firm’s evolution as a natural next step in its growth. The new structure focuses on advising clients across the full lifecycle of construction projects, combining director-led service with competitive pricing and multi-jurisdictional expertise. Clients include developers, investment vehicles, NASDAQ-listed companies, and public sector organisations in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Ritchie, formerly partner and head of projects and construction at LK Shields and later Byrne Wallace Shields, emphasised the increasing role of adjudications in Ireland and the growing international scope of local contractors facing supply chain constraints, skilled labour shortages, and funding uncertainties. “Wherever our clients go, we have the capability to follow,” he noted, positioning the firm to support domestic clients working abroad.

Berry, who joined Caldwell in 2019, outlined plans to target growth in Ireland and the UK, leveraging the directors’ networks and expertise. The firm also intends to expand its headcount selectively, maintaining a culture aligned with its values and philosophy.

Caldwell Ritchie Berry positions itself as a top-tier contract and procurement law specialist on the island, offering clients focused expertise, hands-on director involvement, and practical solutions to complex construction and infrastructure challenges.
