Work is underway on the £800m Sanquhar II Community Wind Farm, set to become the UK’s fourth-largest onshore project when completed in 2026. The 44-turbine development will generate enough electricity for 335,000 homes, create hundreds of jobs—half of them local—and deliver four decades of regional investment.
With government policy shifts clearing previous roadblocks, the project highlights how large-scale renewable infrastructure can align economic growth with long-term energy security.
