Dean O’Sullivan takes the helm at Saint-Gobain UK and Ireland
Dean O’Sullivan has been named Chief Executive of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, stepping into the role as the group unveils its ambitious five-year Lead & Grow strategy. The appointment follows the retirement of Mike Chaldecott, who leaves after more than 40 years with the business.
O’Sullivan brings 25 years of industry experience and an extensive background within the Saint-Gobain Group. Since joining in 2007, he has held leadership positions across its UK and Irish divisions — from Gyproc and Isover Ireland to Okarno and British Gypsum — driving innovation and operational efficiency across the company’s product lines.
The newly launched Lead & Grow strategy aims to reposition Saint-Gobain as a solutions-driven enterprise, integrating its expertise across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. O’Sullivan’s leadership will focus on sustainability, digital transformation, and meeting rising market demand for retrofitting and resource-efficient materials.
“Saint-Gobain is ready to play a catalytic role in transforming the construction landscape,” O’Sullivan said, highlighting climate challenges, resource protection, and infrastructure needs as top priorities for the business.
Saint-Gobain’s financial resilience underpins this leadership shift. In the first half of 2025, the company reported record sales of €23.9 billion and an operating income of €2.8 billion, with the UK market outperforming amid mixed results across Europe.
