Monaghan-based Errigal Group has acquired Woodmarque, a family-run specialist joinery and doorsets manufacturer that expanded its Dungannon manufacturing facility from 50,000 sq ft in 2019 to 130,000 sq ft whilst doubling employment numbers and increasing turnover sixfold over the past decade.

Insider Media reported that Woodmarque, founded as a specialist in high-quality joinery and doorsets, embarked on an ambitious five-year plan post-Covid, investing in factory extensions and advanced machinery. The company works mainly in the commercial sector for contractors and developers on residential developments, office fitouts and hospitality projects.

Damien Treanor, managing director of Errigal Group, described Woodmarque as a strong market leader poised for further strategic growth throughout the UK and Ireland. He noted the companies have known each other for many years with a strong cultural fit rooted in common family-ownership values, making the deal sensible for everyone.

Treanor added that Woodmarque is a successful business with a strong balance sheet, with the group delighted to welcome them into the Errigal family. Woodmarque will continue to be led by the Quinn family and its current senior leadership team following the transaction.

Ronan Quinn, managing director of Woodmarque, whose father Brian founded the business almost 50 years ago, said the family-owned firm's acquisition represents positive news that would facilitate further strategic development. He stated the company has worked collaboratively with Errigal for many years, describing them as highly professional whilst building up a business portfolio into which Woodmarque will fit comfortably.

Quinn emphasised it will be business as usual for staff, customers and suppliers, albeit within part of a much bigger group. Woodmarque also acquired Bristol-based Doorlining.com in March 2024, demonstrating the company's own acquisition strategy prior to the Errigal transaction.
