The FM Today and Tomorrow Conference 2026 takes place on Wednesday 4 November from 9:00 to 15:00 at Crowne Plaza, Santry, offering one day for the people who run, service and shape Ireland’s buildings and workplaces. The conference is built around a clear premise: facilities management is moving from operational support to a strategic driver of business performance, and the programme is designed to explore what that shift demands.
The speaker lineup reflects the breadth of the function. Stuart McIntosh of Walkair Ireland brings more than 25 years of workplace and facilities leadership, while Mary Banks of Tirlán shares how the Smart Workplace Programme connects design, digital innovation and workplace data to support hybrid working. Ronan McDonnell of SOS Group focuses on service transformation and client partnership, and Julie Nicholson of Bidvest Noonan addresses where people, technology and operational excellence meet.
Sustainability and estate management feature prominently. John Cunliffe, Head of Operations and Facilities at Maples Group, brings an engineering background and a cradle-to-cradle perspective, drawing on his role in developing the ISO 50001 energy management standard. John Smith of An Post oversees a national estate of around 180 properties and more than two million square feet, while Vincent Hickey of Aramark Property brings four decades of Irish commercial property experience.
Multinational and sector-specific perspectives add further depth. Fionnuala Byrne of Google leads real estate and workplace services across EMEA, Maeve Boland of Gilead Sciences Ireland manages soft services in a pharmaceutical environment, and Conor Cooney of Arup leads the firm’s Assets and Operations service across Europe. Gar Holohan and Narcisa Popovici of Aura Holohan Group represent leisure operations and people strategy at scale, and Alex Magee of ATU Sligo brings the academic view, connecting the next generation of FM graduates with professional practice.
The programme’s sponsors include Bevi, which supplies smart beverage dispensing and filtered water technology. Its inclusion reflects the wider theme of the day: how workplace services can deliver measurable sustainability gains while improving everyday occupant experience.
Taken together, the speakers show that FM now sits at the centre of decisions about technology, sustainability, workplace design and people. The conference offers a single day to hear how those decisions are being made across sectors, and to compare approaches with peers facing similar pressures.
