Industry NewsManhattan Construction builds new Florida headquarters relocating 300 jobs
US-based Manhattan Construction Group has begun building a 53,000-square-foot office facility at 14161 Jetport Loop in Lee County, Florida, where it will relocate its local headquarters from Naples, moving approximately 300 jobs with the majority being existing positions shifting from Collier County.
Business Observer reported that the company held a ceremonial groundbreaking on the site on 9 April, stating the new office will serve as a centralised hub for Manhattan Construction and its sister companies Manhattan Road & Bridge, SafeZone and Spectrum Contracting. The facility is being built on 3.4 acres just off Daniels Parkway, Interstate 75 and Treeline Avenue, approximately four miles from Southwest Florida International Airport.
Francis Rooney, chairman of Manhattan Construction Group and former local congressman, said the new office positions the company to better support the region's evolving needs whilst reinforcing long-term commitment to the communities it serves. Rooney, who served in Congress from 2017 to 2021, was US Ambassador to the Holy See in the second George W. Bush Administration.
A company spokesperson stated the move also brings the company closer to its workforce, with construction expected to be completed sometime next year. Manhattan Construction has been at its current offices at 3705 Westview Drive in Naples since approximately 2013, when the company bought a 58,484-square-foot manufacturing building and 2.71 acres of vacant land for $4.73m (€4.39m).
Lee County property records show that Rooney Real Estate Co., which shares a Tulsa, Oklahoma address with Manhattan Construction, bought the land in July for $2.9m (€2.69m). Manhattan Construction, which has co-headquarters in Tulsa and locally, was founded in 1896 by L.H. Rooney, whose family still operates it.
