Global temporary works supplier MH International has strengthened its Irish operation with the appointment of James O'Brien as sales manager at its Portlaoise depot, as reported by Irish Building Magazine. The appointment follows the depot's opening earlier in 2026 and forms part of MH International's continued commitment to supporting Ireland's construction and civil infrastructure sectors.

O'Brien brings over 15 years of experience in Ireland's temporary works industry, including technical support and practical guidance on temporary works solutions delivered across major infrastructure and construction projects for some of the country's leading civil engineering and construction contractors. In his new role, he will work alongside existing sales manager Gary Keenan to develop client relationships and expand the reach of MH International's service offering across the Irish market.

Wayne Fisher, international business development director at MH International, said: "I'm delighted to be welcoming James to our sales team, part of the continued commitment to supporting Ireland's construction and infrastructure sectors. The opening of the dedicated depot earlier in 2026 marked the start of a new chapter, and I'm looking forward to seeing how expanding the sales team will push this further still, enabling us to roll out our end-to-end service offering to even more customers."

The Portlaoise depot was established in January 2026 as a central hub for MH International's Irish operations, positioned to serve the civil infrastructure, residential, commercial, healthcare and technology construction sectors across the country. The facility supports MH International's full portfolio of engineered temporary works solutions, spanning propping, jacking, groundworks support and temporary bridging, complemented by in-house design, supply, installation and real-time monitoring capabilities.

The depot also benefits from dedicated engineering support, with Nik Arhipovs serving as design lead to strengthen the technical offering available to Irish clients. Together, the sales and engineering team provides a locally based, end-to-end capability that the company positions as a differentiator from suppliers operating without a permanent Irish presence.

MH International operates on a global basis, providing bespoke engineered temporary works solutions across complex construction and infrastructure programmes. The expansion of its Irish sales team reflects sustained demand for specialist temporary works capacity as Ireland's construction pipeline continues to grow, underpinned by the National Development Plan's €165 billion public capital investment commitment through to 2040.
