SOCOTEC expands construction services with new Dublin base

Global testing, inspection and certification group SOCOTEC has strengthened its construction consultancy presence in Ireland with the opening of a new office in Dublin, supporting growing demand for engineering and compliance services across the sector.

The move follows SOCOTEC’s acquisition of infrastructure specialist Lloyds Datum Group earlier this year and represents a further step in building out a comprehensive Irish offering. 

For construction clients, the Dublin location enhances access to structural engineering, fire engineering and wider technical consultancy services at a time of increasing regulatory complexity and project scrutiny.

SOCOTEC already operates an engineering facility in Letterkenny, which has provided specialist fire engineering services across Ireland and the UK. 

The addition of a capital city base enables the group to work more closely with developers, contractors and asset owners on projects from early design through to completion and certification.

The Dublin office will be led by Wayne Somanna, associate director for fire engineering. 

He said: “Our business unit is focusing on strategic, specific key targets rather than mass expansion and while this Dublin office is primarily for engineering use, it’s a good indication of what SOCOTEC plans to do when it comes to further expansion into the country. We’re not only focusing on engineering but offering holistic technical consultancy services.”

Within the Irish construction market, SOCOTEC delivers fire safety engineering, access and use consultancy, ancillary certification, fire safety audits and fire risk assessments. 

The firm supports projects through the full development lifecycle, including fire safety strategies, fire safety certificates, disability access certificates and on-site BC(A)R inspections and certification.
