SOCOTEC UK and Ireland has acquired Belfast-based Lloyds Datum Group (LDG), a specialist in foundation testing, structural monitoring, geotechnical, and environmental systems. The deal marks SOCOTEC’s first office in Northern Ireland and doubles its overall presence on the island, complementing its Dublin base.

LDG, which incorporates Lloyd Acoustics Limited and Datum Monitoring Ireland Limited, brings over 25 years of experience in foundation pile testing, micro-piling, anchoring, asset integrity, and civils. Integrating this expertise strengthens SOCOTEC’s infrastructure offering, enabling it to take on more complex foundation and micro-piling projects across Ireland and the UK, including Scotland.

SOCOTEC’s CEO Hervé Montjotin emphasised the strategic importance of infrastructure to the group, representing 37% of global turnover across Europe and the US. He highlighted how combining LDG’s client base with SOCOTEC’s services, including air emissions and fire safety, will create an enhanced offering across Ireland.

Matthew Marriott, CEO of SOCOTEC UK and Ireland, described the acquisition as a key step in expanding both geographic footprint and service depth. Nigel Dillon, LDG’s managing director, will continue to lead the company, ensuring continuity while leveraging SOCOTEC’s resources for growth.

The acquisition underscores SOCOTEC’s ambition to consolidate its infrastructure capabilities and strategically expand across the UK and Ireland, providing a platform to deliver higher-value projects while strengthening local presence.
